Kennedy Scott's Employability Day 2019

Kennedy Scott hosted an Employability Day event on 28th June at our offices in Reading. This year’s theme was “Closing the Gaps”, highlighting the tireless effort of organisations like us across the UK, who help the most disadvantaged people in society close the gaps into employment, enabling them to enter, sustain and progress within work.

Employability Day is an opportunity for employment support organisations and employers to celebrate their hard work supporting people to enter or progress in employment. It allows organisations to shout about their success and drive understanding across key stakeholders at local, regional and national level.

The day involved hosting a networking event with employers and service providers from around the area to bring awareness of what we do and how we help our customers, what their needs are and generally bringing people from the wider area together to increase our network of contacts to help and improve our customer’s Circle of Support©. The Circle of Support© is where we put our customer at the centre of everything we do and build a network of people and organisations around them, helping to support them into sustainable employment.

Teresa Scott OBE, Kennedy Scott’s CEO said of the event: “I have always had a passion to help people, which is why I started this company and especially enjoy hosting Employability Day events. It is a chance for us to show what we do, and how we help our customers to the wider community. It is also a fantastic opportunity to connect with organisations who share the same ethos as ourselves, who could help our customers in their employment journey. It also gives us the chance as a Disability Confident Leader to help promote the scheme and engage with employers about how they can support the disability confident scheme.

The event was a great success and everyone enjoyed themselves. We even had our own Employability Day cake made, which certainly put a smile on some people’s faces! With another year’s Employability Day wrapped up, we will now start looking forward to next year and plan how we can make such a great event even better.
