Caseworker - London (Journey 2 Work programme)

The Journey to Work project is a DWP/ESF project to support economically inactive and long-term unemployed participants (over 50’s) move towards and into sustainable employment. This is done using a personalised circle of support approach and a range of innovative interventions. It will also include support in the workplace if required.

Responsible to: Contract Manager

Role Summary: A performance driven role in an exciting and developing industry, the engagement officer will utilise all their skills and innovation identify and engage new partners for the ecircle of support. Maintain relationships with referral agents (including JCP, Local Councils and other statutory and non-statutory agencies) to ensure maximum levels of referral to the provision. The Employment Service Lead must be adaptable to change and working towards continuous improvement in quality and performance. This calls for good team work and flexibility. The attainment of personal and team targets is essential in the role.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

-To market and sell Kennedy Scott’s services effectively and professionally to source new referrals across the contract area.

-Ensure referrals are reaching agreed targets and undertake initial eligibility checks for new participants on the project

-To demonstrate a detailed local knowledge and awareness of local labour market developments in order to pro-actively market opportunities to participants and meet the needs of the employer

-To demonstrate a detailed knowledge and awareness of local community organisations in order to pro-actively market opportunities to participants and meet the needs of participants on the project

-Developing good relationships with the participants and their Caseworker, to understand the participants job needs and preferences

-Build and maintain relationships with referral and partner organisations to support participants through the programme

-Maintain relationships with Supply chain partners and eCircle of support providers

-Deliver interview training and mock sessions to aid the participant in their journey

-Smart and effective case load management

-Varied field work and outreach working

-Perform other related duties as required

Person Specification


-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to build good working relationships with all employees, participants and employers

-Experience in working with people over 50 to overcome their barriers and into employment

-Flexibility and adaptability to change

-Highly motivated individual

-Confident in; Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Email

-Achieved or working towards the ERS L2 qualification

-Experience/training in Health and Safety in the workplace

-Knowledge of Safeguarding Processes


-Experience of working on a Government funded provision
