Dover jobseekers and businesses join Kennedy Scott to celebrate UK Employability Day

More than 20 local businesses joined leading employability provider Kennedy Scott and jobseekers at the company’s Dover office on Friday to celebrate the UK’s first annual Employability Day.

Employability Day highlights the work of organisations which help jobseekers to move towards or into work.

During the event Kennedy Scott staff showcased the success of their employment support services in Dover and the efforts of the jobseekers they work with every day, such as David, 62.

After leaving the pub trade, David found himself unemployed for more than two years and thought he would never work again. With the support of a dedicated Kennedy Scott Employment Consultant, David created a professional CV and regained confidence in his abilities; he has now found a new career at a local Nursing Care Home as an Activities Coordinator.

David said: “Without Kennedy Scott I would never have gotten a job. I’d given up hope of ever finding work. You do give up on yourself, but they kept showing me that at my age I could find work.”

David is one of more than 3,000 jobseekers in Kent that Kennedy Scott has helped into employment through the Work Programme. Kennedy Scott offers jobseekers in Dover a range of support, from CV writing courses and interview practice to work experience placements and specialist advice to help them overcome personal barriers.

The event also allowed Kennedy Scott to recognise the crucial role that employers play in helping jobseekers on the Work Programme into lasting work. More than twenty employers attended the event, and praised Kennedy Scott for their fee-free recruitment service, which includes candidate screening and matching jobseekers to the right vacancies, dramatically reducing business’ recruitment time and expense.

Lynsey Smith from CMS Recruitment in Dover attended the event and has worked with Kennedy Scott for over five years, in which time Kennedy Scott has placed over 100 jobseekers into positions through CMS.

She said of the partnership: “The service has been brilliant and Kennedy Scott has been great at finding us candidates when we’re really busy.

“I would recommend Kennedy Scott’s services, especially if businesses aren’t able to spend money on a recruitment agency.”

Employability Day was celebrated by employment support providers opening their doors in over 65 centres across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
