Home Success Stories Chukwuma Okorah, Holloway Centre
Newsflash! Kennedy Scott has just received funding to deliver an exciting new project helping residents of the Aylesbury Estate in Southwark to explore their employment and training options.

Chukwuma Okorah, Holloway Centre

Chukwuma joined the Kennedy Scott Central London Programme Centre last July. After returning to the UK from Japan, where he had taught English as a foreign language, Chukwuma was unemployed and keen to find a job. Through a referral by Jobcentre Plus, he signed up to the Programme Centre and starting jobsearching at KS on a daily basis.

Chukwuma found that the range of jobsearch resources available, (computers, newspapers, magazines, telephones and directories), helped him to progress with his job seeking. He also benefited from support to update his CV. Most of all, he found the access to jobs exclusively available through KS to be invaluable. After seeing a poster advertising vacancies with security firm The Corps, Chukwuma put his name forward to attend an open day. The open day, featured in the August 2005 issue of KS news, was led by David Burgess of The Corps and took place in the KS Employer Suite at our Holloway Road centre. Success at the initial and at the second interviews led to Chukwuma gaining a job as a Security Guard with the Corps. His current role is based at city law firm Beechcroft and Wansbroughs. Chukwuma is enjoying the central location of the office as this means that he can cycle there and back, and the flexible hours of the work, which allow time for him to pursue his studies.
