Spotlight on Southwark

Take a ten minute walk down Southwark High Street from London Bridge and you will come across Lornamead House, the nerve centre of Kennedy Scott’s operation serving the Lambeth, Southwark and Wandsworth District of Job Centre Plus. Pass through the door of the 3rd floor Kennedy Scott office and you soon realise that you are in the presence of a leader who means business.

Lee Templeman has only been in the post for eleven weeks and her impact is plain to see. Lee has had to learn quickly, which she says is no hardship and, being unafraid of a challenge she has thrown herself into the role with gusto.

Responsible for the effective delivery of no less than four different and complex programmes, Lee feels she is well prepared for the task ahead. From experience with the Business Support Team, she knows only too well how important it is to keep a keen eye on the sometimes subtle but nonetheless important differences of each contract.

"The simple fact is” states Lee in positive voice “all of the work we dohas two common objectives, to find meaningful and fulfilling work for those who need it and well prepared staff for employers with vacancies". Lee continues, "The difference in each of the contracts is about the target group, the content of course delivery and the duration. I recognise I have a lot still to learn, but with a dedicated team for each programme, who understand our delivery obligation and who offer a high quality service designed to fit the needs of the clients we serve, I have got the best help".

Describing her staff, Lee thanks her lucky stars that she has a hard working and committed team who, with their boundless energy and enthusiasm for their work, are well prepared to achieve results quickly.

Herbie, working on the Gateway to Work team, has concentrated on developing links with Jobcentre Plus colleagues and his efforts have paid off, with client attendance at an all time high. High attendance translates into high outcomes and the graph in Southwark indicates that Lee and her team will be a tour de force.
