Mike Ley, Business Manager at our Bedford centre, was delighted to receive this email from an appreciative client

Hi Mike,

I was a student on the New Deal course just over a month ago. Whilst I was on the course I sent out over 30 applications speculatively. At the same time I was offered a position at Dunelm Mill. It wasn't a particular area of interest to me and it wasn't what I had in mind to further my career in the health and social care field but I was willing to take it on. However, I was contacted by the Health Improvement Specialist from the Bedford Primary Care Trust a week from leaving the course, because she was interested in my CV. Note, it was my NEW CV, not my old one!! I am now working for them temporarily on a part time basis (sadly there's not enough desk space for full time!) and I'm a project assistant/co-ordinator. I've been given lots of different work in all sorts of areas, e.g. sexual health.

Currently I'm working on helping to improve the standards of Hepatitis C and TB in Bedfordshire, and a project surrounding Post Natal Depression aimed at men to help their partners. When I was taken on, they decided to award me £9 per hour!! The purpose of this email is to say a BIG thank you and your team (Dave, Abraham etc) for helping me wherever and whenever you could. This is the job I have always wanted and I'm eternally grateful for your guidance and assistance in helping me map out my future career.

Although the position is temporary, I am told once I get in, it's hard to get out!!!

Once again THANK YOU. Your work is very much appreciated.
