Julie's Story
The Founder, Managing Director and Senior Management Team place considerable emphasis on our corporate values and it is hoped that all Kennedy Scott team members will ‘live by’ these guiding principles. These values are central to everything we do and aim to achieve and are based around a core belief that we can develop and progress all employees and participants and are committed to improving their future.
Julie's Story
Following a three month career break to allow her to undergo treatment for a form of leukaemia, Julie applied for a position with Kennedy Scott and after a successful interview; she joined our Margate office in March 2010 as an Employment Development Coach. She was (and still is) incredibly passionate about her role and the industry and is committed to helping customers secure sustainable employment.
Within three months she was promoted to the role of Employer Liaison and Partnership Manager with a focus on building relationships with local employers to help more clients, seniors and advisors.
Unfortunately, In January 2011, Julie was given the news that her leukaemia had returned and that she needed to undertake further treatment.
In order to allow her to fully concentrate on her recovery, the Management team at Kennedy Scott persuaded Julie that a short sabbatical was essential in order to allow her to undertake critical treatment. Whilst initially resistant, as she felt she was letting her team down, she reluctantly agreed and treatment started. Although physically not in the office, she remained in constant contact with the office – even undertaking sales activity from her sick bed!
“When I found out earlier this year that I was poorly again and had to undertake further treatment, I was concerned as I did not want to take time out of the business or lose my job. Well, I did not have to worry for long. Kennedy Scott were amazing with their support and asked me to take the time I needed off work to get myself better”
Following completion of her treatment, Julie has recently been informed that she is in second stage remission. She is back at work, and working harder than ever to build on the already valuable relationships that she had with a range of local employers as we move into the Work programme.
Her commitment to Kennedy Scott, our customers and the industry is 100%
